Betsy’s Story

Betsy Pritchett Peterson is a freelance writer and filmmaker. Beginning with PBS station WNET/Thirteen, she was a Production Controller and Production Manager for large-scale national performance productions, film dramas, music specials, and Emmy Award-winning series; working with extraordinary talent from NYC Ballet legends George Balanchine and Edward Villella, to film icons Katharine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Joanne Woodward, and Lauren Bacall.

At Top Hat Productions, she was Production Manager on a documentary about Columbia Pictures hosted by Glenn Close.

After working in films as a Second Assistant Director, Betsy became a union Script Supervisor on features, documentaries, and commercials.

Betsy has also produced and directed a broad range of industrial films. Johnson & Johnson asked her to produce/direct and co-write a documentary on their 125-year history, earning her a Silver Telly Award.

Betsy has produced and managed production shoots internationally, in various settings, from rural South Africa to Hollywood studios.

Betsy calls Hope, New Jersey, home and is actively involved in her community, serving on the township’s Land Use Board and supporting local nonprofit, H.O.P.E. (Help Our Preservation Effort).

Her passion extends to instilling the value of quiet in children. In her church, she introduced the program Children and Worship to pre-kindergarten children, teaching Bible stories through wonder and listening. When co-leading confirmation classes, she encourages writing to middle-schoolers as a safe space to create and connect with themselves.
